Under 18 Major:
Killinarden v Firhouse:

Firhouse suffered a major blow to their League Title hopes on Sunday morning after traveling the short distance to league strugglers Killinarden F.C. Hopes were high for another 3 points to keep the league leaders top of their division after putting 6 past this team earlier in the season....

Maybe it was the long lay-off, maybe it was compliancy,
but Firhouse failed to get a shot on target until the home
side took the lead in the second half. The Killinarden goal
came on the counter attack and Firhouse looked to have
the threat covered until a mix up on the edge of the box
left the 'keeper with no chance.

That appeared to be what Firhouse needed to wake them up, going 3 at the back shortly afterwards and bringing on Corbin Rawlins to add some accuracy up front. Corbin, who is still struggling with a muscle problem, has been unable to match his pre injury form of late however within a minute of entering the game nearly netted the leveler. Shortly afterwards, Corbin finished a move he started with a fine and deserved goal. The lad's, in true "battle to the end" fashion pushed for the winner. Ryan Burke was unlucky not to bag all 3 points late on & Rawlins deserved a penalty as well as hitting the cross-bar with Niall Lennon twice heading just over from close range however time was against them as they left it too late!

Lesson learned, had Firhouse started as they finished this game would have been over by half time. Credit to Killinarden, no team deserves 3 points for just turning up, and with some heavy defeats behind them, Killinarden deserve applause for their determination, team spirit as well as footballing skill's which are not recognised by their league position.

On a positive note for Firhouse, the team kept going when the game was not going their way, dug deep and were the only team looking for a winner at the end. Still unbeaten, still in there with a shout & still with a cup semi final to look forward to!

Under 11 Premier:
Park Celtic Vs. Firhouse:

The gods of Football finally shone on the U11 Premier
team on Sunday when we finally got a game of football.
Over 4 months and with just one cup match and even
then we had to spend an hour and a half trying to get a
ref we finally got a game under our belt. And the guys
did'nt disappoint with a super team performance.

Right from the opening seconds they looked to pass and play attractive football. The opener came just before the 10 minute mark when Kimolo let fly from long range and the ball clipped in off the post the second wasn’t long coming when Rober tapped home from close range after good work from Mikey and Daniel. Park rarely threatened but Sean was called into action diving at the strikers feet to save brilliantly. Park pulled a goal back with a break but minutes later the always impressive Avis went on a great run knocking home from the edge of the box.
More of the same was the message at half time however the game went into a lull with play condensed into the midfield. Rob and myself made a few tactical switches and it seemed to work. The goals came thick and fast Mikey banging in two Avis with another and Sean coming out of goal to hammer home a cracker from the edge of the box.
Park pulled another consolation goal back at the end but in truth Firhouse should have won by more with two disallowed goals a couple of really good chances and a host of other efforts. A great performance with fantastic displays from all. Man of the match for me would be Craig a great captains display leading by example.
Great to be back only 5 matches in hand on our main rivals! At lot of work to be done but everyone looking forward to it.
